How to Add Flag Clips to a Flagpole

When clips are left in the same position for many months or even years, the friction from the flag waving in the wind, and pulling on the clips, will cause the rope to wear out at the spots where the clips attach. Eventually the rope will wear through and break (and you'll call us to schedule a service call). By moving the clips up or down occasionally, even just 4-6 inches, you can create new wear points on the rope and extend its lifespan.

Whether it's time to change out worn flag snaps (aka clips) and vinyl covers, or you want to add a second flag to your flagpole, follow these simple steps to attach and reposition the clips onto the rope properly. It's easier than you think!

Start by gathering your supplies. You'll need a stainless steel snap and vinyl snap cover for each grommet on the flag. The rope should already be on your flagpole.

    PRO TIP!
Always check that both snaps are aligned vertically and that the canvas heading on the side of the flag is pulled tight when raised. If flying two flags, adjust the spacing between the lower snap of the top flag and the upper snap of the bottom flag to prevent overlapping.
